Once again thank you for helping to bring back our festival - we could not have done it without you.

Dear Guildford Borough Council,
Please can you help to facilitate the return of GuilFest for 2014.

Why is this important?

Since the unfortunate and sad end of GuilFest last year, organisers have been inundated with requests and offers of support in helping to reinstate the festival.

Organisers have been busy and in continuing discussions with each other throughout this year looking at as to how and whether the festival could reinstate itself again next year (2014) .

Organisers want to bring back the experience that has been appreciated locally by both young and old for 21 years. The festival provides an important role in the community and it is invaluable with regard to businesses and employment, not to mention local artists and performers.
It is felt that 21 years of hard work in building this yearly family focussed independent event, which has seen a vast array of the world’s finest musicians and performers visit Guildford, cannot just be lost.

Please show your support in bringing back the local treasure that is GuilFest by signing this petition.

After 3 very long months, Guildford Borough Council are going to announce a decision today (15th January) about 2.30pm.

GuilFest was well supported by councillors at the meeting on Thursday, and we were asked to submit an application to run an event next year. Our application has been handed in and we are now awaiting the councils reply.
Thank you everyone for your support. We had over 300 people at the council offices to support us, and your presence really helped us.

Regards

The Full Council Meeting to decide whether there is a GuilFest 2014 is this Thursday October 10th
This is our last chance to show the support we have for GuilFest returning to Stoke Park for 2014. It would be great if you could come along and be part of what we hope will be an historic event in the festivals history.
If you are planning on coming it would be much appreciated if you could provide an indication on our Facebook event http://www.facebook.com/events/551463528258099/ if you can. There is still an opportunity for any of you who may wish to speak at the meeting to do so. You must however first email the Committee Clerk, Mr J Armstrong ([email protected]) before noon Monday 7th October.
For those of you that can’t be there, we’ll update you further on the outcome following on from the meeting.
Thank you for your continued support.

Your support has now seen confirmation that GuilFest 2014 will now be debated at the Council’s next Full Council meeting on October 10th. At present we are unable to confirm the time of the October meeting and as to whether this is a meeting that can be attended by the Public or not. It may however be worth putting a note in your diaries, and we will advise as soon as we know!

Come early September, we are also currently scheduled to meet with the Council in advance of October’s Full Council meeting. In the convening time it is very important that the message continues to be spread of our desire to reinstate the festival next year. We need as many supporters as possible to sign up to our petition here at 38 Degrees.

Thank you so much once again for your continued support. Let’s keep it going and spread the word.
