Ascot Heath Campaign

Ascot Heath Campaign wants Winkfield Parish Council and Bracknell Forest Borough Council to reject the application for planning permission to build a 50-dwelling housing estate in the grounds of Ascot Heath School.

Why is this important?

"The Rough" is an adjacent greenfield site which has been the target of developers for decades. The plan includes re-building Ascot Heath School between the "The Rough" and Ascot Stud Farm, leaving the eastern half of this greenfield site susceptible to creeping status change. It is important because this is green belt designated as a Special Protected Area and because there are other East Berkshire sites with infrastructure (sewers, arterial roads, hospitals) much more suited to new housing developments.

When we moved to Ascot over 20 years ago it was because the nature of the area was exactly what we wanted. From our bedroom window we saw the field between the Rough and Ascot Stud Farm. That made me feel like were in the countryside. I would hate to see that change. I like the noise at playtime. In 1994 I launched the Ascot Heath Campaign and corresponded with East Berks MP Andrew MacKay, who replied that he was supportive. About 15 years ago we made friends with Dorothy Hayes and her consort at Ascot Ale Festival. Dorothy Hayes undermined my campaign in 2011, when I made a speech about my campaign to WPC, before Nitesh joined. I am therefore not surprised that Dorothy Hayes is not supporting us, but this worries me because she has the ear of councillor Tony Virgo. More importantly, just like I did in 1994, wee need to aim higher. We need to get the ear of Adam Afriyie MP. I am sending him a message today.

Since I announced the 38degrees Ascot Heath Campaign Tuesday evening, the Ascot Heath Campaign has received over 100 votes in 24 hours! Fantastic. I truly believe we can win this one. Tim did a great job researching SPA. Let's see more of these powerful reasons which I am adding to the website.
