Highlands and Islands residents against fracking
As a result of Fracking licensing now being devolved to Holyrood. The residents of the Highlands and Islands of Scotland would like to show solidarity and support to the central belt with the looming threat that fracking will present to Scotland as a whole.
We want them to stop selling off Scotland for fracking to big companies that will cause damage to the environment and cause health implications.
We want to show the Scottish Parliament that the residents of the parts of Scotland not to be fracked that we are against it and want change.

Why is this important?
The main concern here is with the cocktail of chemicals used in the fracking process, many of which are known carcinogens and endocrine disruptors.
Although regulations are tighter here than in the US, nevertheless there is still a great deal of uncertainty about the effects of the fracking process on local communites.
Fracking will accelerate climate change. Fracking will not lower energy bills.
Also studies have shown that methane can be leaked during the process. Methane is a potent greenhouse gas - 20 times more so than CO2.
We want a complete ban on fracking in scotland.

How it will be delivered
I shall present the petition in person hopefully.
