Introduce checks on owners of care homes

Three Cornish care homes for adults with learning disabilities have been forced to close because of the behaviour of the company director. Most recently, one home closed six days before Christmas with residents who had lived together as a community for some time being spread across other homes, some of them many miles away from families. The 24 staff, some of them single parents on low wages, were left unpaid.

The same can happen in any part of England because of the lack of control over ownership. Anyone can buy a residential care home, whatever their background.
