Memorial in Dover to Samuel Shenton (founder of of the International Flat Earth Research Society)
We call on Dover District Council to erect a suitable memorial, ideally an enormous iconic bronze statue in the Market Square, or if the money does not run to it (no doubt due to wicked Tory austerity measures) possibly a blue plaque on his former residence at 24 London Road)
Why is this important?
In these days when we have 'had enough of experts' (to misquote Michael Gove) we should take the opportunity to celebrate Dovorian Samuel Shenton who steadfastly refused to believe those who attempted to baffle him with science and reason and instead relied on his own common sense.
