Keep busking legal in Bournemouth

Bournemouth Borough Council are proposing to implement a Public Space Protection Order with a view to banning busking in the town centre. Buskers and street performers bring culture, vibrancy and diversity as well as entertainment to our streets. We ask that the council consider looking at other options as other councils up and down the country have by implementing designated busking areas, with time slots of 1 hour per busker/street performer on a rotating basis.

Why is this important?

Most buskers and street performers earn a large portion of their income from busking and street performance and in some instances all of their income. Implementing such a policy would have a dramatic impact on the performer financially and could lead to them being fined or given an Anti Social Behaviour order. This is totally unjust and the council should reach a compromise which will be beneficial to all concerned.

How it will be delivered

The deadline for the council's public consultation for the Public Space Protection Order is December 4th, we aim to have a large petition to hand to them by then.

Just over 6 days left to get this petition to 2,000 signatures. The more people that sign the stronger petition we have and we can send a clear message to Bournemouth Borough Council that criminalisation of busking and street performance is unjust, it is an infringement on art as well as self expression and creativity.

Please Sign And Share.

Thankyou.
Jamie Swainston.
