We recently had activity when the chairman of the bridge 234 preservation society went down to the bridge with an artist. The artist had enquired about the bridge and the contractor for Bellway had said that there were talks about turning it into shops. I have since contacted Bellway and they have neither confirmed nor denied it, which is very strange, as they are usually very quick to expel misinformation.
On another note, however, Bellway have now lodged an appeal against the SKDC decision which comes at no surprise as they continue their determination to destroy heritage which they are now custodians of. I will let you know the link to put forward your letter to the planning inspectorate who will be making a final decision in due course.

Bridge 23...4 the people!

Apologies for not posting this sooner. We've been extremely busy behind the scenes trying to work out in which direction to go after the results from March 17th planning meeting.We believe the result of the meeting was quite positive despite the developers receiving planning approval, mainly because the key thing here is that the planning approval was conditional.The play area and the bridge, along with ecological survey will be called back into committee.If you would like to witness the contents of the meeting (recommended) follow this link to the March 17th planning meeting for S21/0113 (which included Bridge 234)

At around 28 minutes the case officer talks about Bridge 234. He adds that there was significant representation (this petition was put forward, so thank you)

The Ancient Monuments Society have written to the planning case officer asking for the bridge to be retained as a historical piece.

Bridge 234 Update - We hope to have a first meeting with Bellway next week, as advised by the BTC.
It looks like the actual SKDC Planning Committee is on 17/03/21 - I will keep you posted if that changes
