Protect Finchingfield and Gt Bardfield bridges, heritage buildings and wildlife

Please act now to implement a Temporary Traffic Regulation Order to restrict non local HGV passage across Finchingfield and Gt Bardfield bridges.
Develop permanent length, width, height and weight restrictions and signage etc on the B1053 and B1057 to prevent HGVs using these inappropriate routes over heritage assets to cross country.
Support Parish Councils to establish CCTV surveilling of key heritage assets to a) provide a deterrent for inappropriate vehicles to use these routes and b) to enable recovery of damages and prosecution if the are recorded striking heritage assets and c) provide advice and support on equipment choice, grant funding and planning support.

Why is this important?
Our unique heritage assets that define the character of our villages, underpin our domestic economy and are loved by our growing visitor sector are frequently struck by inappropriate vehicles using the B1053 and B1057 - causing distress and inconvenience of long diversions on rural lanes when under local Taxpayer funded repair. This can be stopped by Essex Highways adding appropriate traffic controls.
The suspension of the Braintree Local Highways Panel within Essex County Council cannot be allowed to delay restricting inappropriate traffic and should be prioritized to prevent further damage to Finchingfield's GI listed Guildhall which is over 500 years old, Finchingfield's iconic 200 year old and internationally recognized bridge and Gt Bardfield's famous 200 year old GII listed long bridge beloved of artists including John Arthur Malcolm Aldridge and Sheila Robinson
