SAVE KIDZMANIA

REFUSE ANY APPLICATION FOR CHANGE OF USE OF THE CURRENT BUILDING FROM D1 TO HOUSING

Hackney Kids must have somewhere safe and secure in which to play.

Why is this important?

Tens of thousands of children have used and played on the facilities at Kidzmania for generations. If it were to be lost, there is nowhere in the immediate vicinity that parents can take their children to play safely and securely.

It is a venue open to all children, irrespective of their age and encourages them to play together.

It is a focus point for the community in Hackney. A place where mums can get together, where contact visits can be arranged when there are issues between parents, where children with special needs can be accommodated.

Hundreds of children celebrate their birthday parties there every year.

While everyone accepts that new housing must be created, there are plenty of vacant or derelict properties. There should be no need to choose a site that already has an existing use, and is used by so many. It is wrong to deprive thousands and thousands of children just for the sake of 25 flats. It is too high a price to pay, and the community of Hackney should not stand for it.

Please sign our petition to say to the Planning Committee of the London Borough of Hackney and to the proposed developer (identity as yet withheld) that the Community puts children before profit

We would like to thank everyone for their support. It is greatly appreciated and is also proving effective. We are pleased to announce that the developers have requested a meeting to discuss how a new and improved Kidzmania can be incorporated into their development. While these are only the first steps in what is likely to be a long journey, we do feel confident that we are moving in the right direction. We will keep you informed on any developments
