Achub Bysiau Bethesda! // Save Bethesda Bus Services!

++++++++++++ ENGLISH BELOW ++++++++++++++

Annwyl oll,

Ychydig dros wythnos yn ôl bu lansio deiseb mewn ymateb i amserlen oedd wedi ei gyhoeddi gan Arriva oedd yn awgrymu y byddai eu gwasanaethau bws rhwng Bethesda a Bangor yn cael eu cwtogi yn sylweddol. Bu i bron fil o bobl arwyddo, sydd yn dangos cryfder barn leol am y gwasanaeth bws hwn.

Bellach mae Arriva wedi ymateb yn ymddiheuro, a nodi eu bod wedi gwneud camgymeriad gyda’r amserlen. Mae amserlen newydd bellach wedi ei gyhoeddi. Rwyf felly yn cau’r ddeiseb hon, ac yn diolch yn fawr i chi am eich cefnogaeth.

Ond, yn anffodus, tydi’r frwydr ddim drosodd!

Yn gyntaf, does dim newid wedi bod ar y penderfyniad i beidio ymweld â Llys y Gwynt (One Stop) sydd yn mynd i fod yn broblem i’r rhai sydd yn byw neu weithio yno.

Yn ail, amserlen tan fis Gorffennaf yn unig ydy’r amserlen newydd, ac mae’r Cyngor ac Arriva wedi nodi eu pryderon am y gwasanaeth o fis Gorffennaf ymlaen. Ar y funud, mae’r gwasanaeth yn derbyn cynhaliaeth gan Lywodraeth Cymru, ond fe fydd y cyllid yma yn dod i ben fis Gorffennaf sy'n creu risg gallwn golli gwasanaethau.

Dros y dyddiau nesaf byddaf yn rhannu gwybodaeth ar y cyfryngau cymdeithasol am sut i wrthwynebu i'r toriadau yma.

Rydym wedi dangos pa mor bwysig ydy gwasanaethau bws i drigolion Dyffryn Ogwen, ac er bod ymateb positif wedi dod i’r ddeiseb hon, mae na frwydr arall ar y gorwel. Felly rwy'n gofyn i chi barhau i godi llais i ddangos ein bod eisiau cadw gwasanaethau bws hanfodol, a dangos ein bod yn credu y dylem weld buddosdiad yn ein rhywdwaith bysiau, nid toriadau.

Gyda diolch,
Catrin Wager

Dear all,

Just over a week ago a petition was launched in response to a timetable published by Arriva which suggested that their bus services between Bethesda and Bangor would be significantly curtailed. Almost a thousand people signed, which shows the strength of local opinion about this service.

Arriva have responded stating that they made a mistake with the timetable. They have apologized, and a new timetable has been published. I am therefore closing this petition, and thank you very much for your support.

But, unfortunately, the battle is not over!

Firstly, there has been no change to the decision not to visit Llys y Gwynt (One Stop) which is going to be a problem for those who live or work there.

Secondly, the new timetable only runs until July, and the Council and Arriva have indicated their concerns about the service from July onwards. At the moment, the service receives support from the Welsh Government, but this funding will be withdraw at the end of July leaving us at risk of loosing services.

Over the coming days, on social media, I'll be sharing information on how to object to these cuts. Please keep an eye out and consider supporting this further work.

We have shown how important bus services are to the residents of Dyffryn Ogwen, and although there has been a positive response to this petition, the long-term battle is not over. So please, help keep the pressure up, and show that we want to keep our bus services.

Diolch,
Catrin Wager

Mae’r gwasanaeth bws rhwng Bethesda a Bangor yn wasanaeth hanfodol, sy’n cysylltu pobl gyda'u cyflogaeth ac addysg yn ogystal â chyfleusterau manwerthu, hamdden a meddygol.

O'r 30 Ebrill, bydd Arriva Cymru yn torri'r nifer o fysiau rhwng Bethesda a Bangor o 41%, gan leihau'r bysiau i yn agos i fws bob awr. Mae nhw hefyd yn bwriadu peidio ymweld a Llys y Gwynt (One Stop), sydd yn arhosfan hanfodol i'r rhai sydd yn gweithio, byw neu aros yno. Mae hefyd yn ymddangos fel tase nhw'n bwriadu peidio rhedeg bysiau i Gerlan (a tydy o ddim yn glir o'u gwefan os bydd y gwasanaeth newydd yn ymweld a Rachub na Carneddi chwaith).

Bydd y toriadau hyn yn cael effaith sylweddol ar drigolion Dyffryn Ogwen ac felly ysgrifennwn, ar fyrder, i ofyn i’r toriadau hyn gael eu gwrthdroi.

The bus service between Bethesda and Bangor is a vital service, connecting people with employment and education as well as wider retail, recreation, and medical facilities.

From 30th April, Arriva Wales will be cutting the number of buses by 41%, reducing the buses almost to an hourly service. They are also proposing to no longer stop at Llys y Gwynt (One Stop), a stop which is vital to those who work and live in its vicinity, and, although the website isn't very clear it looks like they will also stop travelling to Gerlan (and potentially Rachub and Carneddi).

These cuts will have a significant impact on the residents of Dyffryn Ogwen and therefore we write, with urgency, to ask for these cuts to be reversed.

Why is this important?

Ar adeg o argyfyngau lluosog, mae gwasanaethau bws yn bwysicach nag erioed. Dylem fod yn buddsoddi mewn trafnidiaeth gyhoeddus ac yn ei wella, nid ei dorri.

Mae gwasanaethau bws rhwng Bethesda a Bangor eisoes yn aml yn orlawn, yn enwedig ar adegau prysur, felly mae torriadau mor sylweddol a hyn yn gamgymeriad mawr, ac yn anheg iawn i driglion Dyffryn Ogwen.

+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

At a time of multiple crises, bus services are more important that ever. We should be investing in, and improving public transport not cutting it.

Bus services between Bethesda and Bangor are already frequently overcrowded, especially at peak times, so cutting the number of buses will be hugely problematic and leave many people stranded.
