Say No to Glastonbury Tesco's Red Neon sign at Night

Dear Mendip Planning Officer,
Please get Tescos in Glastonbury to turn off during night hours the red neon sign on the front of the store which is such an unpleasant and unwarrented piece of light pollution on the Glastonbury/Street and Somerset night sky.

Why is this important?

A red sky at night is not a delight when a too large, too bright red Tesco's sign forms an unsightly, unnecessary blot on our small country town's night sky.First Mendip Council allowed all the too large ,too bright sign-age associated with the Novotel/Kentucky Fried Chicken development and now this.Does the Council ever look at the end result of it's decisions? If they did maybe they would learn from their mistakes or better yet rectify them. Sadly the edge of Glastonbury is being turned into a rat run of lurid, self centred chain stores at the expense of our lovely, green country side and the town's independent traders. Maybe I am tilting at windmills disguised as neon signs but I am asking you to please sign this petition because we don't need Tescos glowing inside our houses 24 hours a day on top of them being in our town. Please pass this on to all your friends. Thanks very much for your help.
