To: Secretary of State for Transport Patrick McLoughlin.

Stop HS2 High speed train.

Cancel HS2 and use the £50billion- £80 billion cost to invest in health, education, social care, current transport, policing, and national security.

Why is this important?

HS2 is not needed, and will damage the environment during construction and operation, and through high use of electicity, (probably from non renewable sources).
It will be an elitist train only available to the rich.( as stated by former Secretary of State for Transport)
Meanwhile the health service, education and social care structures are crumbling for lack of funds. Daily reports in the media show the tragic results of shortage of investment, and key staff in these areas.
Government chooses to ignore the report by the Major Projects Authority questioning the case for HS2, The governmnets own Office of Budget Responsibility has similarly questiond the viability of this project.
Furthermore local train and road transport urgently need investment now and at the moment this is just words and no action.

HS2 will never make a return on the money invested and will be out of date by the time it becomes fully operational in 2036.
