STOP Wind Turbines at Loch Ness & Glen Urquhart
This original petition became active in 2017 when Loch Ness became the focus of wind farm development. Some smaller sites were refused because of tireless campaigns by passionate locals but larger ones high on the moors (where the non-human communities have no voice) went through.
Current active applications for the Ness Catchment include Cnoc Farasd in Glen Urqhuart; Loch Liath near Cannich and Glenmarkie wind farm in the Monadhliath mountains.
Unfortunately it is no longer a case of 'please help keep Glen Urquhart & Loch Ness untouched from major windfarm development' but please help stop the ever more rapid development of wind farms in this beautiful place to protect the natural environment and areas of outstanding beauty in which our residents live and work and the majority of Scotland's tourists visit.

Why is this important?
Back in 2017 Loch Ness was under threat from over 500 wind turbines approved and in the planning stage within a 22 mile radius. Near 10 years later Loch Ness and the Great Glen is littered with turbines and is STILL a prime target for windfarm developers and the threat is intensifying. In 2017 there were calls to classify Loch Ness and the Great Glen a World Heritage Site because of its international importance and this call is more important than ever.
Loch Ness is one of Scotland’s most popular locations given its beauty, ancient history and mystery. Yet, environmental destruction from more wind farms (and also now Pump Storage Hydro!) could still threaten some of the Highland’s most scenic areas.
Loch Ness and the Great Glen are under threat as never before. You can make a difference by signing a petition to the Scottish Parliament pleading to save Glen Urquhart, Loch Ness and the Great Glen. These are the world’s most beautiful landscapes and contain some of Europe’s last remaining wild land.
