Following the scandal of the Post Office's persecution of sub-postmasters and sub-postmistresses, there is currently a petition to strip Paula Vennels of her CBE. After causing untold misery for so many people, this seems to be no punishment at all for her transgression. Depriving her of the pension pot that she has taken from her position at the Post Office would send a message not just to her, but to anyone responsible for similar scandals, that they will be hit not just in their vanity but in their pockets.
Why is this important?
This is to send a clear message that there should be genuine punishment for those who cause others to suffer so much.
