United Kingdom Federation Referendum
We the undersigned respectfully petition the UK Parliament to hold a UK wide Referendum with the question: Should the United Kingdom become a Constitutional Federation of States being England, Wales, Scotland & Northern Ireland? In other words a United States of Britain?
Why is this important?
THANKS TO EVERYONE WHO SIGNED. UNFORTUNATELY FOLLOWING THE INFAMOUS "VOW" WHICH SCOTTISH VOTERS AT THE FIRST INDEPENDENCE REFERENDUM WERE PROMISED, AND THE CONSERVATIVE GOVERNMENT REJECTING EVERY SINGLE AMENDMENT TO THE SCOTLAND BILL PROPOSED BY 56 OF SCOTLAND'S 59 MPS, I FOR ONE NO LONGER BELIEVE IN A FEDERAL SOLUTION. SCOTLAND HAS ALWAYS PAID MORE INTO THE UNION THAN IT HAS RECEIVED. IN RETURN THE DEMOCRATIC DEFICIT MEANS ALL OF SCOTLAND'S ELECTED REPRESENTATIVES ARE IGNORED. THE TIME FOR A FEDERAL SOLUTION IS OVER. SINCE ENGLAND VOTED FOR BREXIT, SCOTLAND NOW REQUIRES A SECOND INDEPENDENCE REFERENDUM. Many thanks.

Earlier narrative for the record - now held as delete - Following the Scottish Independence Referendum and the record breaking engagement of the electorate in Scotland, there may well be a UK wide interest in rebalancing the whole UK political system. Judging by The Smith Commission debate at Westminster, Holyrood and in the National Press, there appears to be an increasing appetite for Constitutional Reform.
The petitioners believe that this can be accomplished by:-
1] The establishment of a Devolved Parliament For England. Ideally in one of the major cities outside London, such as Manchester, Leeds, Birmingham, York, Plymouth, Nottingham, Southampton, or a city/location as voted by the electorate of England.
2] A rebalance of the political structure of the United Kingdom to devolve powers sought by the electorate to ALL of the four devolved parliaments of England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland.
3] The remaining powers, including, foreign policy, national defence, and certain monetary/fiscal union plus other debated powers to be retained by the former Houses of Parliament at Westminster, which would then become the Federal Chambers of the United States of Britain.
