  • Make green spaces and living roofs part of Manchester developers' legislation
We need local government to make this an obligation for developers in order to have a 'greener' Manchester which will create cleaner air, greater biodiversity, better living conditions and in turn create jobs and better health outcomes for people living in Manchester.

The environmental impact of agricultural farming and fishing is NOT sustainable and is killing our oceans, rainforests and will in turn kill our wildlife and our own oxygen resources. This is happening NOW! We are almost too late to stop it but we can start to insist on change now by forcing this conversation to begin!!!

  • BANES Council: Support the Climate & Ecological Emergency Bill
The UK Government’s target is to be carbon neutral by 2050. But this is too late, because the world is set to exceed the dangerous limit of 1.5°C warming by 2040, causing irreversible harm and costing millions of lives. In fact, Government advisers say the UK is not on track to meet its own target. The CEE Bill would ensure the Government takes action to reduce carbon emissions now, and counts emissions from aviation, shipping and international trade for the first time. It would also ensure it does not rely on unproven technologies such as carbon capture and geoengineering in its calculations. It would protect UK biodiversity and ecosystems and ensure companies and individuals are held responsible for environmental damage in the UK and overseas. A Citizens’ Assembly would be set up to advise on the Government’s emergency strategy.

  • What’s Your Carbon Footprint
About three-quarters of greenhouse gas emissions that are attributed to humans come from burning fossil fuels. We burn fossil fuels — non-renewable energy sources — when we transport goods either by planes or huge container ships or operate other vehicles, heat our homes, etc, etc. Many of us are not aware of where a product was made as the likes of Amazon and eBay do not currently have to mention where something was produced. The same applies to retail stores and supermarkets as they do not have to state where something was produced or grown. I strongly believe that as consumers we should be given this information so that we can decide if we want to buy something that was made overseas. The carbon footprint for something made in Beijing, China and sold in London, England is a whopping 8,140 km (5,058 miles). For something made or grown in Buenos Aires, Argentina and shipped to London, England its carbon footprint is 11,270 km (7,002 miles). With your help I can present this petition to the British Parliament and hopefully succeed in getting a Law passed where we are informed of the products Country of origin. If Britain makes it Law, then other countries will surely follow. Everyone can do their bit to fight climate change and I hope you will take a few seconds of your time to sign this petition.

  • South Gloucestershire Council: Back the Climate and Ecological Emergency Bill
We are joining with the Climate and Ecological Emergency Alliance (Bristol), to demand action from our councillors. On current trends, our children will experience an unthinkable 3 to 5 degrees of global warming within 80 years! 2020 was the joint hottest year on record and the hottest six years on record have all occurred since 2016. The UK Government’s target is to go carbon neutral by 2050. But this is too late, because the world is set to exceed the dangerous limit of 1.5°C warming by 2040, causing irreversible harm and costing millions of lives. In fact, Government advisers also say that the UK is not on track to meet its own target. We call on South Gloucestershire Council to show leadership, by declaring support for the Climate and Ecological Emergency Bill (CEE Bill). In July 2019, South Gloucestershire Council achieved unanimous cross party cooperation and declared a Climate Emergency, setting out a strategy to be carbon neutral by 2030. The CEE Bill is a game-changing vehicle for positive action. It is a draft law which has been introduced to Parliament and already has the support of around 100 MPs. The Bill would ensure that the UK Government plays its fair and proper role in limiting global warming to the 1.5°C recommended by scientists. It would include our carbon emissions from aviation, shipping and international trade, which are currently ignored! It would set up a Citizens’ Assembly, representative of the people who make up UK society, to advise on the Government’s emergency strategy. We call on our elected representatives to work together again, in the interests of our future generations, and to show climate leadership!

  • Refuse incinerator plant
The increased road traffic, but more importantly the emissions to come from this plant. As a country we are supposedly going green, why build this large refuse system so close to a large housing development and a large school. It seems to me that Corby is being used as a dumping ground.
