Clean up the fuel oil on the North Denes

Although the council have agreed to clean up the oil please feel free to keep signing, the petition will not be taken down until the work has begun.

Clean up the exposed oil left over from the Eleni V tanker spill, which occurred just off the Suffolk coast in 1978.

Why is this important?

The oil is toxic to our environment and could potentially harm wildlife including local seal colonies if it is left to wash out to sea.

Reasons for signing

  • Such a shame to have this on our lovely beaches.
  • Fossil fuels are toxic to the environment, it's a tragic discrace that this kind of flagrant disregard is allowed to go on unchecked
  • This effects wildlife dogs and people of Lowestoft and is an important environmental issue
