Connect St Neots to Cambridge by rail

Add St Neots as a stop along the new east west railway connecting Oxford and Cambridge.

Why is this important?

St Neots is the largest town in Cambridgeshire with local area expansion plans to double in size over the next decade.
There are a vast array of professionals already commuting to Cambridge but mainly along congested and polluted roads and many more would like to trade their London train commute for Cambridge.
St Neots is a great hub and should not be forgotten in one of the greatest infrastructure investments we will have seen in a century.

Reasons for signing

  • St Neots is one of the major hubs connecting to Peterborough, Cambridge, London . Pancras. Connecting at one of the secondary stations means that commuters are condemned to a less frequent rush hour service and must take the slower, less frequent lines. It defies logic that a major east-west link would go through a secondary train station and miss the major commuting point on the Huntingdon-St Neots-Biggleswade_Stevenage-London route.
  • St Neots has been excluded from proper consideration from being on the route of the new railway right from the start. This is clearly shown by the documents & reports published to date by both Networkrail and Eastwestrail, which make little or no mention of the town.
  • I would really like to work in Cambridge, but have been put off applying given that the commute would be horrendous.
