Grenfell Tower residents

Update - 21/06/17 - We won!
The residents are being offered accommodation ending the need for the petition. Thank you for your awesome platform...

Survivors of London's Grenfell Tower fire are to be rehomed in a luxury housing development in the heart of Kensington, the government has said.
Sixty-eight one, two and three-bedroom flats have been acquired at the Kensington Row development.

The Department for Communities and Local Government said extra public money had been found so the flats could be fitted out more quickly, and more builders had been taken on.

Grenfell Tower residents

I'm looking for a commitment from government that the same number of like for like, social homes will be provided within the Kensington borough, within a reasonable timescale and all peoples affected by the Grenfell Tower inferno will be given assurances that they will be re-homed back within the community they came from.

Why is this important?

It appears that years of neglect towards the needs of tower residents and the tower itself has brought about this fire.
The people who have suffered for years have now had to endure the loss of their family members, friends, neighbours and the very homes in which they lived.
These people need to be given back a little of what they lost.

Reasons for signing

  • Landlord and Council cared more about the flats APPEARANCE than the SAFETY and well being of their TENANTS inside of them! People deserve the right to live in safe home no matter what their up bring and race is NO ONE should of been put through this horrified ordeal that will live with them for the rest of their life's and people heads need to roll for this ! Theresa May when your people needed you you choose not to see them and show some compassion towards them SHAMEFUL !
  • No legalese from housing, give survivors permanent safe homes in the Borough Now!!!!!
  • It's there community, And council neglected there safety lost lives so thy should at least give them that right, and it should be priority

Theresa May "I wan't to reassure them (the residents) that the government will make every effort to insure that they are re-housed in London and as close as possible to home."
My thoughts: London is a big place and "as close as possible" leaves a lot of scope to move the residents outside the area they know as home. Not good enough...
