If the UK leaves the EU then Scotland should declare independence

If the 2017 referendum returns a decision that the UK will leave the EU, then the Scottish government should declare its intention to remain within the EU and therefore begin moves to become independent from the UK.

Why is this important?

The Conservative government is planning to hold a referendum in 2017 to decide if the United Kingdom will leave the European Union. There is the possibility that the vote will show that while the rest of the UK will want to leave the EU, the Scottish vote will show that the majority of Scots wish to remain as a member of the EU.
This will indicate a major divergence in the vision of the people of Scotland and the people of the rest of the UK on the future path which the United Kingdom should take. As a consequence, the Scottish Government should begin to make moves to become independent from the United Kingdom and follow the wishes which its citizens have indicated.

Reasons for signing

  • The majority of our country did not want to leave, the result is clear. We need to be separate before we receive the backlash. Either that or the fix this with EU immediately. We're watching the downslide of Britain before our eyes
  • It's a no-brainer to stay in Europe.
  • Hi Leaving UK, getting a EU status like Danmark, seeing reasonable sized scottish communities fully enpowered and prooving that whatever Scots, Gaels or foreign residents ( like me ) : we are definitely " genetically programmed in Scotland to make political decisions " .... that is what I would like to share with Scotland during my life time...
