We, the undersigned residents and workers of West Lindsey petition Lincolnshire County Council and West Lindsey District Council to work together with the Lincolnshire Road Safety Partnership and Lincolnshire Police to install a speed camera on Bridge Street, Gainsborough.
Why is this important?
The reason for this, is that as a long, straight road cars often exceed the speed limit making it dangerous to be a pedestrian on Bridge Street, especially so at night. As a local residents who often walks down Bridge Street at night I do not feel safe due to the speeding cars.
In the last year or so, there have been a number of accidents on the stretch of road from the Maltings to the traffic lights at the junction with Lea Road / Bridge Road / The Flood Road.
These accidents have caused severe delays, road closures and hours of police time being wasted. A speed camera installed outside of the Maltings would have reduced the number of accidents.
Please now take action to make Bridge Street a safer road for other drivers and pedestrians.
Thank you for signing my petition calling on West Lindsey District Council, Lincolnshire County Council and Lincolnshire Road Safety Partnership to install a speed camera on Bridge Street in Gainsborough.
I have today updated the petition text slightly to take account of the fact that I first created the petition around six months ago.
I would be very appreciative if you could share the petition to increase the number of signatories.
Only yesterday there was a minor RTA on Bridge Street, action needs to be taken to make this road safer.
Thank you for your support.
