Please uphold the UNANIMOUS decision of the democratically elected Dumfries & Galloway Planning Committee's refusal of the Mochrum Fell wind farm.
Overturn the Reporter's decision to allow the wind farm.
Leave Mochrum Fell alone to be enjoyed by wildlife and humans alike.
Why is this important?
Mochrum Fell is a beautiful and unique place with ancient beech trees on its slopes; a haven for wildlife and a place of restorative peace that should be prized above rubies.
Mochrum Fell is teeming with many protected species, a significant population of Great Crested Newts live and breed in 9 ponds on the Fell. 8 of the 9 Scottish Bat species roost and roam here. Red Kite, Goshawk and many migrating Geese and Swans criss cross the skies above Mochrum Fell.
All of these creatures face an uncertain future if the Mochrum Fell wind farm is constructed. It will degrade, fragment and destroy vital habitats and the number of bird deaths by turbine strike have already been calculated by the developers without a second thought.
We have fought this proposal for more than 4 years to save a place of exceptional unspoilt beauty and for all the creatures that call it their home.
Following the UNANIMOUS REFUSAL of the Mochrum Fell wind farm by the Dumfries and Galloway Planning Committee on grounds of significant landscape and cumulative impacts and with strong objections from 5 Community Councils and 600 individual objections (with only 24 supporters), the developers appealed to the Scottish Government. The Reporter subsequently ignored the overwhelming evidence and objections and allowed the application.
