Enshrine proper net neutrality rules in UK law after exiting the EU
Why is this important?
The UK's net neutrality rules are enshrined in EU law. With the US government currently overturning their own net neutrality laws, it is important that the UK government are not allowed to do the same.
Without public pressure, the UK government may use Britain's exit from the EU as an excuse to make our own net neutrality laws less binding. This could mean increased prices for the consumer, when companies pass on extra charges from the ISP to us, and a more difficult environment for smaller businesses.
We want the UK government to debate this issue properly and to confirm that we will have strict, binding and fair laws that protect net neutrality when we leave the EU.
