Protect Whitchurch Meadow and stop the over-development by Velindre NHS Trust
Please decline the planning application by Velindre NHS Trust to build the new Velindre Cancer Centre on the land to the north of Whitchurch Hospital playing fields (commonly known as Whitchurch Meadow).
Why is this important?
The meadow is adjacent to Glamorganshire Canal Nature Reserve, part of which has been designated a Site of Special Scientific Interest, with several trees being more than 200 years old. The impact of the proposed development (which includes a car park with 700+ spaces) in such close proximity, is likely to be substantial to local wildlife and is akin to habitat destruction. Furthermore, there are severe concerns about the effect of a potential 700+ visitors daily on the roads of Whitchurch. Both the location and scale of this development are alarming and we ask for this to be urgently reconsidered.
