Protection Of The Royal Horticultural Society Garden At Wisley From A3 Road Widening Plans

Protection Of The Royal Horticultural Society Garden At Wisley From A3 Road Widening Plans

Sign this online campaign and other campaigns to protect the RHS Garden at Wisley from A3 road widening plans unveiled by Highways England.

Also set up paper petitions and get signatures to send to The Secretary Of State For Transport and The Secretary Of State For The Environment.

Why is this important?

As part of proposed plans by Highways England, The Royal Horticultural Society's world famous garden at Wisley in Surrey is under threat from widening of the A3 road which runs alongside its woodland boundary. This would see the destruction of a large part of the garden's woodland areas which are home to some of the gardens most important native species of wildlife, aswell as a large number of rare species of trees from around the world.

RHS Garden Wisley is one of the leading centres of excellence for teaching gardening and horticulture not just in the UK, but also to students and visitors to the garden from all around the world, and we must ensure that horticulture is invested in in all areas of the industry for future generations of gardeners for years to come.

It is also vitally important that we protect the RHS Garden at Wisley, for the wildlife that inhabits not just this garden, but all gardens open to visitors and all gardens in general.
Aswell as for educational facilities for future generations of Gardeners not just in the UK, but also around the world.

The RHS has more information about this proposed plan on its website, and leading pioneers in the world of horticulture such as Alan Titchmarsh have publicly condemned the plans proposed by Highways England to widen the A3 at Wisley, in the strongest possible terms.
More details about the RHS's campaign to fight against this A3 road widening proposal can be found at the following link: https://www.rhs.org.uk/gardens/wisley/Articles/Wisley-under-threat-from-A3-plans

Please support my campaign on 38Degrees and the RHS's campaign to fight off these destructional plans for all lovers of plants and gardening, not just for today's generation of gardeners, but also for the gardeners of the future.

Thankyou.

How it will be delivered

I will be contacting Sue Biggs, Director General of The Royal Horticultural Society and I will be putting forward my petition along with her and other leading figures from the RHS and the wider gardening world to The Secretary Of State For Transport and The Secretary Of State For The Environment.
