Queensferry Crossing Community Walk

Here at What's Happening Community Projects, we believe that local residents should be given the opportunity to take part in history and be allowed to walk across the new Queensferry Crossing. We are asking for the Scottish Government to hold a Community Weekend where the local communities that surround the bridge are given a chance to walk over the bridge.

What we are suggesting is that over a weekend the communities of South Queensferry and Kirkliston get to walk over the bridge on the Saturday and on the Sunday the communities of Rosyth, Inverkeithing and North Queensferry get to walk over the bridge as well.

The Scottish Government could use the same format to vet people, that they used for the original ballot.

Why is this important?

We believe that local residents should be given the opportunity to take part in history and be allowed to walk across the new Queensferry Crossing. It's a way of the Scottish Government of saying THANK YOU to all the local residents for what they have had to put up with while the bridge was being constructed, and also its an opportunity to help celebrate the success of a piece of FANTASTIC engineering and workmanship. Allow us to celebrate, don't let local people miss out on this once in a lifetime opportunity.

LET US WALK THE BRIDGE

Reasons for signing

  • Would love to walk over the iconic Queensferry crossing and didn't know about the ballot.
  • Badly organised imo local community and those who worked the bridges should have been given first priority before giving random people the chance. People from Wales and England have been selected before those who dedicated thousands of hours to it and those who were affected by it during construction. Absolute farce
  • Give our kids the chance to walk the new bridge like what our parents/grandparents got when the road bridge was built
