Save Londonderry Playing Fields
Identify and develop alternative brown fields sites in Sandwell for the proposed Commonwealth Games 2022 aquatic centre rather than destroy a green expanse of parkland situated within an urban conurbation.
Why is this important?
Existing green spaces should be preserved for current and future generations. Sandwell has large swathes of brown field sites that are currently a blight on the borough and are in urgent need of development.
Additionally Londonderry Playimg fields is situated within a densely populated area with main arterial routes only accessible by already congested roads through a residential area. Construction of the centre on Londonderry playing fields will cause disruption and a degradation of quality of life to residents in the immediate vicinity.
