Save 200 year old Oak Tree at EATsgate

The petition is now closed and will be delivered to Paul Chick, Case officer 2pm friday 14th July 2017. Well done PEOPLE.

We will be closing the petition on wednesday 12th July 2017-tomorrow and presenting it to Paul Chick, the Case Officer at City Hall at 2pm on friday 14th July 2017 if any of you would like to join me. We will of course notify the media in case they would like to cover the event.

We are aiming to deliver the petition on 18th July 2017 at City Hall. We are currently establishing to whom we have to meet with to do so. Also we shall be inviting the media there and when we have details it will be posted here. All are welcome to come along. Nearly 7k signatures so far.

We are aiming to present the petition in good time for the determination date and so the opportunity to add voices to the campaign is now limited and we ask if anyone knows someone who is thinking of signing up please get them to do this week because we will present our case to the appropriate persons in good time so they cannot say they did not get it. Also I will let you know when it will happen because we hope to have local media coverage....and you may like to join in when i take it down to City Hall(The Council House)

The burning question is if the tree has a Preservation order on it why should there be a threat that the tree will be cut down. What is making developers believe they can just ride roughshod over a TPO? We need experts to answer that question and take appropriate action to ensure the TPO is adhered to. I hear that we may win this battle but in years to come the developers will attempt again to get their way. That has to be looked into and commitments from the Council that this tree will be safeguarded. Of course dirty tricks might start saying the tree is in a bad way and has to be cut down.... my age has taught me one thing..where money is involved people in power will bend over backwards to make it happen regardless of cost to the community. Debates will have to include decisions that ensure this tree lives its own natural life cycle.

Just to clarify. I met with Radio Bristol and the reporter clarified that the Bristol Post is wrong There is not a reprieve, simply that the developers are reviewing the application in the light of the public response. We will continue with the petition until nearer the decision time when we will present to the Council. The fact we have over 3k signatures means the Council has to put the application to a full council meeting. Keep watching out for my updates because I will let you know when we are stopping the petition so until please encourage many more people to help us. The tree may be 150 not 200 years old but that is still making it an old tree and still needs preserving..

we are reaching 5,000 signed up....we need to spread the word to family and friends who agree to the campaign and will sign up...lets put pressure on the planners to see sense.
