Save Our Cycle Shop

We would like Halo Leisure to reverse the decision to close the Spot-On Coaching shop at Hereford Leisure Centre.

Why is this important?

As a keen cyclist who came to the sport only last year at the age of 60, I find the decision to close this venue very disappointing and depressing. Hereford has too many empty retail spaces already and this just adds to the view that the City is dying. A congested city also needs more people to try alternatives such as cycling. For a Leisure Centre to remove a cycling facility which is attracting new people every week seems to be very short-sighted, especially as there are no other plans to use the space. It is also pushing away the very people who would have contributed to the promotion of a cycle track - a project which now appears stagnant. How sad.

Please sign this petition if you think Halo should keep the shop.

Reasons for signing

  • I signed because I enjoy the cycling community spirit at the shop which is warm and welcoming to all abilities.

The petition will be handed in shortly as the shop is due to be closed at the end of June. We have one week to get as many signatures as possible to persuade Halo to change their mind and preserve the wonderful cycling community that is being built up around it. Thank you to everyone who has signed and shared so far!

25 riders met at the shop today. Jonty showed everyone how to ensure their bikes were roadworthy using the 'M' check then off we rode for about 2 hours before returning for a surprise birthday cake for one of our group.

This is the community we are building and why it's so important the shop remains in place.

One supporter has shared this to Facebook with the following comment:
"Please take the time to support this amazing little cycle shop. It's a very special shop where the emphasis is more on inclusion of all ability riders than anything else.
Through a series of unfair and unkind actions it is in jeopardy.
Thank you."
