WE HAVE ACHIEVED OUR AIM.....
PERRINE WILL LIVE!!!!!
Statement (abridged) from Trustees
I wanted to let you know as soon as possible that the trustees have decided not to euthanise Perrine.
The trustees will be meeting to agree the final details of this, but now feel we can reconsider our original decision and focus on finding the right home for Perrine with someone who is willing to acknowledge and manage the risks involved.
We have received several good offers of potential homes, and hope to have her settled somewhere suitable as soon as possible. We will let you know when this has happened.
This has been a difficult time for everyone involved, and I am glad that we have been able to bring this to a close with a positive outcome.

A Professor of Criminal Law at the London School of Economics writes:-
"…as I see it the trustees are being over cautious. The reasons for this may be two-fold:
1. In law you cannot exclude liability for death or serious injury simply by passing the ‘dangerous’ item to someone else, with appropriate disclaimers. It all depends on the circs.
2. In an unreported case a few months ago, a former owner was held liable for a death/injury caused when the new owner’s child rode the horse without realising it had a tendency to bolt.
However, crucial in 2 was the fact that the former owner did not tell the new owner about the horse’s tendency. In our case, the trustees can and would make a full disclosure to the sanctuary (who in any event know the history).
So, I do not think that there is anything other than the remotest risk of legal liability, which should really be discounted."
Kennet Valley Driving Group Members have requested that an EGM be called.
Watch this space for the date. We will post this as soon as we hear.

Alison Andre wrote:-
I helped with this group for many years, firstly with their driving activities and latterly with fund raising. Perrine is a beautiful, gentle girl, and is no danger in hand or in the field. She simply got scared in an incident with a motorist. She has been offered a retirement home with an experienced animal sanctuary, but instead the trustees want to have her pts. I can only hope, that people I used to respect, will do the right thing and change their decision.
Time is running short.
If you haven't already emailed the Chair of Trustees for KVDG, please do so now....
Dame Elizabeth Neville, DBE, QPM, DL, previous High Sheriff of Wiltshire and former Chief Constable of Wiltshire, signs to save Perrine!
Thank you for your support.
A MESSAGE FROM HELP THE HEROES TEDWORTH HOUSE
"I can say that a large number of our wounded, injured and sick beneficiaries have hugely benefitted from the afternoons they have spent with your wonderful horses and volunteers and the sessions are always met with enthusiasm. Spending time with horses can be very therapeutic for a number of individuals, especially those suffering from mental illness and the calming effect of all the horses that you use is clear to see. I can only assume that Perrine was very instrumental in making these afternoons a great success and she deserves a relaxed retirement and caring future as thanks for the dedication and important work she has offered over the years.
We wish you all the best with the outcome for her future."
The Trustees are due to meet next week. ( week beginning) 9th April.
Whoa! What a response to the petition!
Over 2000 signatures and rising all the time.
The sole intention of the petition is to save Perrine's life, not to destroy the Kennet Valley Driving Group. So..........please, Trustees, give an immediate assurance that on reconvening you will revoke the decision of 29/03/18 whererin you voted for Perrine's destruction.
Statement from Ed Bracher RDA UK
