Picture 2 schools. Imagine a piece of land 3 football pitches in size that separates the 2 schools...now think about 226 homes.
The proposal is to build 226 homes on a scrap of land not much bigger than 3 football pitches in between 2 schools in a densely populated area that already has the highest pollution rate in King's Lynn and the concerning issue of serious crime in the immediate area.
The Gaywood area is a place where children live. This is evidenced by the diverse range of children ageing between birth and 16 because of the schools situated in the locality.
Howard Infant and Junior School: ages 4 - 11
King's Lynn Academy: ages 11 - 16
This land should be for the use of children and the community. I see this beautiful field used everyday by dog walkers, runners, walkers and cyclists. It is an absolute tragedy that this field has been taken away from the schools and the community in the first instance, but now we claim it back!
Oak Circle estate in Gaywood has high crime rates in King's Lynn. There is police presence in this area most weekends. How are the police going to keep our children and the community safe with an influx of people from 226 homes when they struggle to keep us safe now? Our communities require care and protection.
How can King's Lynn and West Norfolk Borough Council (KLWNBC) and Lovells guarantee any quality of life for potential inhabitants of this incoherent scheme? The facts speak for themselves...226 homes packed on to 3 football pitches is no quality of life.
More than that, the children of Gaywood deserve better than this. They deserve to walk to school without their lungs full of the extra carbon dioxide that would be issued from the increase of vehicles on the road should this application be allowed to progress. They deserve to be able to run free in a field that is located a short distance from their homes. They deserve to live in their area without fear of an increase of crime in an already high crime area.
There has been enough upset, obstacles, confusion, distraction and upheaval in children's lives over the past 2 years to last these children a lifetime. A planned build of 226 homes in between 2 schools is an incredibly thoughtless and mercenary thing to do in the current climate. Our children have suffered enough; disruption from the construction of the 226 homes is not welcome and this planning application should not be allowed to continue.
This field belongs to Gaywood and we intend to Save Our Gaywood! Please help us by rethinking this scheme and find an alternative plot for this build. Thank you.
Why is this important?
Planned growth and development is important to our great nation but the decisions to build new homes must be done so with the citizens of Great Britain in mind. It should not be at the cost of pushing a community to the brink of collapse because the current infrastructure struggles to maintain cohesion now. The traffic, pollution and crime rates are already the highest in the area.
This build of 226 homes does not consider the current residents or the infrastructure whatsoever. This is a planned construction for profit only.
This should not be allowed to continue because citizens of the communities of the United Kingdom should be able to benefit from a small green space in their local area without fear of it being taken away.
Communities need a space to gather to celebrate being British. I imagine gathering on a field like ours to celebrate the Queen's Platinum Jubilee, for example. Communities need spaces NEAR THEIR HOMES to play, walk their dogs, have a picnic, or ride their bicycle.
This planning application will ruin this community. Please help us Save Our Gaywood.
