  • STOP THE CURRENT CAPITAL & CENTRIC CAR-PARK PROPOSALS
    https://s3-eu-west-1.amazonaws.com/public38/images/councillor.gif We call upon Huntingdonshire District Council's Cabinet to formally bring to an end the current Capital & Centric regeneration proposals involving the redevelopment of the Council car-park sites at the former Cattle Market in St Ives, Princes Street in Huntingdon and Tebbutts Road in St Neots, subject to the Council meeting its existing legal and contractual obligations and protecting the interests of local taxpayers. We further ask Cabinet to confirm that these Council-owned sites will not be progressed for redevelopment under the current Capital & Centric programme, and that any future proposals for their use should only be considered through a new transparent process supported by a clear business case and meaningful engagement with residents, businesses and other affected stakeholders.

  • REQUEST RECOGNITION OF Saffron Walden’s LONGSTANDING Friendship with Bethlehem since 2017
    We, the undersigned residents of Saffron Walden, respectfully ask Saffron Walden Town Council to publicly recognise and celebrate its longstanding friendship with Bethlehem on 29 November 2026, the United Nations International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People. In 2017, Saffron Walden Town Council entered into a formal friendship agreement with the Municipality of Bethlehem, intended to develop friendship, cooperation and goodwill between our two communities. For 2026, as 29 November falls on a Sunday, we ask the Council to mark this friendship over the weekend of 28–29 November through: • flying the Palestinian flag from the Town Hall; • displaying information about Saffron Walden’s friendship with Bethlehem and why the occasion is being marked; • sharing traditional celebratory food from Bethlehem as part of a small community event. We believe this would be a positive gesture of friendship, celebration and respect between our two communities. The Saffron Walden Peaceful Assembly will provide the Palestinian flag if required, at no cost to the Council.

  • Petition: Stop Dangerous Speeding on England Way - protect our kids and pets
    England Way is a residential road, yet vehicles are regularly driven at excessive and unsafe speeds. This creates a serious risk to pedestrians, children, residents, pets and other road users. Residents should not have to feel unsafe walking along their own street, crossing the road, using driveways or allowing children to play nearby. The current situation is particularly concerning because it is only a matter of time before someone is seriously injured or killed. We are calling for: ● An urgent traffic and speed survey on England Way. ● Consideration of a 10pm speed limit if appropriate. ● Installation of speed humps, speed cushions or other traffic-calming  ● Improved warning and speed-reduction signage. ● Regular monitoring of the road to ensure the problem is properly addressed.

  • Protect Sunny Bank, Prestolee – Preserve the Land for the Community
    We want Bolton Council to work with local residents to secure the long-term future of the land south of Sunny Bank, Prestolee, as accessible community green space. We ask the Council to explore all reasonable options to achieve this, including supporting or assisting a community purchase, negotiating acquisition by agreement with the landowner, or securing the land through another appropriate legal mechanism. A voluntary community purchase has already been explored directly with the current landowner, but the landowner has stated that the land is not currently for sale and the figure discussed is significantly beyond what the community could realistically raise. If a voluntary solution cannot be achieved, we ask Bolton Council to formally investigate whether its compulsory purchase or other statutory acquisition powers could appropriately and lawfully be used, where justified in the public interest. We also ask the Council to protect the site's established pedestrian access towards the River Irwell, properly safeguard the trees protected by the existing Tree Preservation Order, and work with residents to preserve this valued green space for future generations.
