PROTECT COUNCIL WORKS PENSIONS
  • Make Council works pension (Local Government Pension Scheme) fully membership owned, so no future government can take the money and spend it away.

Why is this important?

To gain justice for 1950s and 1960s born ladies.

To end pensioner poverty for good from the around £70bn-£84bn surplus in 2024 National Insurance Fund.

To end UK having amongst the rich nations' highest winter excess elderly death.

To end early death consequences of pension age rises, both works and state pension, of pension age rises above 50 and 60 years of age to women.

Ending need of means-tested Pension Credit.

Grants security and dignity in old age.

Women aged over 50 are the main customers of high street shops, so that helps especially small to medium independent retailers to return to the town centre, so granting shop worker jobs etc.

UK working class from age 50 have amongst the highest rates of falling out of work by the millions due to ill health, which includes severe symptoms of Menopause. Age discrimination by bosses for new jobs begins at age 50.

Ensure current and future council pensioners are protected from loss of vital works pensions, especially as most are women that were on low wages so council works pensions is small, by making the LGPS fully member owned by council workers.
