This campaign has now ended: The NHS tender was awarded to Virgin Care by CCG
Call an immediate halt to the tendering process for community and urgent care services in West Lancashire;
• Hold an urgent stakeholder enquiry to investigate why Southport and Ormskirk Hospital NHS Trust was excluded from bidding;
• Give proper consideration to the impact on the local health economy and the future viability of Southport and Ormskirk Hospital NHS Trust as a result of excluding it from this process;
• And to take action to ensure that the West Lancashire CCG board is transparent in its decision-making process and held accountable for the decisions they take in the name of West Lancashire residents.
Why is this important?
The health service belongs to the people and we demand that you don’t privatise our local health services. It is unacceptable that our services should be threatened by local GPs acting in secret and hiding the bidding process from public scrutiny. By removing the services from Southport and Ormskirk Hospital NHS Trust it will undermine the stability of the hospital and potentially lead to its demise.
Local people are absolutely opposed to the privatisation of the NHS by stealth or design.
We want a health service that is committed to the healthcare of its local population and not committed to the profits of shareholders
Local GPs should get their GP colleagues who represent them on the NHS West Lancashire Clinical Commissioning Group Governing Body to change their minds or move a vote of no confidence in them.
