Stop the call for the killing of birds

Dear members of Natural England,

Please drop this call to allow people to remove and destroy the nests and eggs of birds such as the robin and starling. The RSPB have stated that they do not represent health and safety risks of any significance and it is not necessary to do for any reason.

Why is this important?

Some of these bird numbers are already in decline and we shouldn't be worsening their situation. This is another example of humans thinking they can do what they want to the natural world for their own interests.
We can't just decide to upset nature for some people's narrow-minded opinions and this body that advises the government is not one that has nature's interests at heart.

This petition will stay live until 31 May 2014. Then I will arrange for it to be handed over to Natural England, for which I would need some assistance from people who can be in London on a date to be confirmed.

Even though the consultation process has ended, it doesn't mean that we can't put them under pressure. The chair is a founder of Linden Homes and this move is clearly so that building wouldn't have to stop if nests are discovered on their building sites. We've got a very good start to this petition in 24 hours so let's keep it live and present it to them soon. I'd like to get a few thousand signatures in a week or so.
