The Tory rejection of a windfall tax condemns millions to fuel poverty!

The Conservative Governments rejection of a windfall tax on the energy giants will condemn millions to fuel poverty and leave people without decent home insulation grants. We call on Alun Cairns MP to urgently recognise the desperate plight of the majority of residents in the Vale of Glamorgan and support a windfall tax on the energy giants' massive profits.
High energy bills are not inevitable, they are a political choice especially when set against the huge profits being made by Shell and BP in the last year.
The Government could ease people's hardship with a windfall tax on these profits - it has refused to do so. The chancellors response of a £200 "loan" to be repaid over the following five years and a rebate on some council tax bills is totally inadequate and shows how out of touch Tory MP's are.
Its clear that Alun Cairns is not concerned about the thousands of Vale of Glamorgan residents who are struggling with the massive rise in energy bills!

Why is this important?

Bringing in a windfall tax on the huge profits made by fossil fuel giants, the Government would raise enough money to cover a £500 payment to six million households. This would include thousands in the Vale of Glamorgan, who are expected to be in fuel poverty by April and would also provide money for insulating homes to a decent standard.
There is no greater proof that this Government has lost touch with the real world, they are more interested in saving Boris Johnson's reputation than helping the hard working people of Barry and the Vale of Glamorgan.
It is natural justice to ask these giant companies to make a one off extra contribution to help so many hard working people who are facing appalling hardship.
We desperately need politicians who have the political will to provide a lifeline for struggling bill payers!
