Ditch Plastic Bottles at Wimbledon

Stop supplying players and spectators with throwaway plastic bottles at Wimbledon.

Why is this important?

It is predicted that by 2050, there will be more plastic by weight in our oceans than fish.

At the moment, the Wimbledon tournament is screened to hundreds of millions of viewers around the world - with images of tennis players and spectators, consuming and throwing bottle after bottle away. Discarded bottles are littered across the courts.

Even players are speaking out calling for a ban on single-use plastic bottles at Wimbledon. And British number one - Johanna Konta- wants the All England Lawn Tennis Club to take action. Lord’s Cricket Ground and Glastonbury festival have announced they are both banning plastic bottles at future events. The All England Tennis Club should follow suit.

Now is the time for them to take environmental responsibility by not supplying players and others with throwaway plastic bottles at Wimbledon.

Notice how Evert Wimbledon interview has a plastic single use Evian bottle prominently on show. They could find a way of providing the water in a re-usable utensil embossed with the Evian logo, keeping their sponsorship.
