BBC should continue to use Met Office

The BBC said it had to use licence payers/tax payers money efficiently, so had to use the 'market'. Is it best use of taxpayers money to give it to a foreign company and have to support those made redundant at the Met Office? I can not imagine other major European national broadcasters not using their own county's national weather forecasting company/organisation.
