Free Prescriptions for Cystic Fibrosis

Abolish the outrageous prescriptions charges for patients with Cystic Fibrosis, a genetic condition that cannot be cured and is fatal.

Why is this important?

Cystic Fibrosis is a condition that affects over 10,000 people in the UK, patients consume a large amount of Antibiotics over their shortened lifespans. Cystic Fibrosis is only missing from the "exempt from prescription charges" list because when the list was written, no one over the age of 18 was alive with the condition. A shocking justification for harvesting cash of patients who have no control over the prescriptions they are issued. It is unfair that a lot of less serious conditions get all prescriptions for free, while CF sufferers cannot get vital drugs without a cost.

After a slow few months, I have had a couple of infections that have obviously slowed down my ability to really push time into this project.

In the last few months I have had communication with my local MP, who while appearing reluctant, I am confident I can sit down with and discuss the issues - also feel free to contact your own local MP and make them aware of this issue!

2016 will be a good year for us!

A Department of Health spokesperson said:

"With demand on the NHS rising, and spending on medicines alone almost doubling since 2000, there are no plans to change the current prescription charging arrangements in England. But we have frozen the cost of three month and annual prescription pre-payment certificates since 2011 and for the next two years to protect those with long term conditions.”
