The last night of the BBC Proms is an exciting opportunity to take the campaign to protect our BBC to the next level.
A whopping 18 million people watch the BBC Proms. That’s 18 million people who care about the BBC but probably don’t know it needs protecting from the government. So 38 Degrees members are going to create a huge swarm to spread the word. We'll be joining in the Last Night of the Proms celebrations outside the four big “Proms in the Park” events. Here's the plan for Swansea:
- 38 Degrees members meet outside Fulton House, Swansea University, from 4pm, because gates to the event open at 4.30pm
- We get organised and spread out in groups around the entrances to the park
- We hand out bright flags saying ‘protect our BBC’ as well as banners and leaflets
- Everywhere the crowds and TV cameras look, they'll see ‘Protect Our BBC’!
- After we’ve handed out all the flags and leaflets, we come back together with a big 38 Degrees BBC Proms picnic - so don't forget to bring a bit of food/drink!
