Defend the Mental Health Provision in Derbyshire

PUBLIC MEETING

Mental Health services are not only being cut but actually being closed down. The situation is untenable.
Here are just some of the examples of the threats, due to funding cuts from Government, Derbyshire City and County Councils:
• Derby Steps Rethink mental illness project - 30% funding cuts
• DORA (Chesterfield) raises awareness of mental health to close end of March 2017
• The Croft . Ripley (part of Rethink) - major review
• Red Cross Dementia/Mental Health Care (Alfreton/Belper/ Ilkeston/ Long Eaton. Operation) - to be taken over by a new provider.
• The Mental Health Action Group (MHAG) - run by individuals who are current or ex-users of mental health services in Derbyshire - in jeopardy from Sept 2017
• Amber Valley Moneywise in the community (supported through Derby CAB) – has been be scrapped
• Amber Trust, Ripley, supports people with mental ill health to live successfully in their local communities- support cut from 2 years to 8 months.
More to follow? There is a massive increase in admissions to A & E by mental health sufferers. Where are people to go?

Parking spaces available. And refreshments. Speakers still being invited.
