Petition hand in at the M&S HQ in London (Paddington)
Save Our Salmon!
Flash mob / dance off / street party
Friday the 13th of August at 14.00 a crowd (some volunteer participants, some paid performers) will gather at the M&S HQ in London. The crowd will form into 3 concentric circles. The outside edge will be made up of a crowd of observers. Their presence will encourage other pedestrians to come and watch, providing a strong human presence as a background layer to the performance.
The second concentric circle will be made up of zombie farmed salmon. We will invite volunteers attending from the 38 Degrees signature list to join this circle. They will be provided with salmon costumes, make up and other props (dirty marine gear you might find at a salmon cage). The zombie farmed salmon will walk / dance in a circle.
In the middle will be the Wild Salmon Dance Off (Inspiration - https://youtu.be/_cbNqoAeRto). A troupe of professional dancers will dance with profound vigour to help free the zombie salmon. The zombie salmon will toss paper mache sea lice onto the dancing wild salmon.
The overall effect of the performance will be to create a stunning visual spectacle that will give the petition hand in some serious gusto. We want to create a scene that people in the Marks and Spencers HQ are aware of. We also want to create fantastic images for photographers to capture to help boost media coverage.
The entire performance will be captured by the Ecohustler video team along with vox pops from bystanders and a narrative explaining the issues.
Photographers, journalists and broadcast media will be invited to attend the event, conduct interviews and discuss the campaign.
(All participants must follow UK government corona virus guidance including socially distancing and masks)
