4 day week
The 5 day week is outdated. Staff are more productive when they have 1 day off between Monday and Friday. They are happier, and hence more productive. Mental wellbeing maximises and staff are less stressed. We have not fully recovered since covid which is still with us for many years to come. There is less for us to acquire in person as everything is now digital, filling in forms, responding to emails, sharing and receive electronic documents, amending login details... We need more downtime to deal with individual matters. A happy society makes a happy country and is good for tourism too, more needs to be done to build this country with innovation and long working hours are not the answer. A 4 day week can increase employment, companies need not shut down for 1 day, staff can work on a rota to ensure sufficient staff are always in. The UK has done long weeks for decades. It is time for change
Why is this important?
Parents can share childcare more frequently so both can contribute and play active roles in attending school and extra curricular activities. Children's medical needs can also be met more easily for single parents. Economical profits will regulate and steady across the board rather than become extra busy on every weekend. Traffic will decrease too rather than build up every Friday for the weekend getaway. Employment levels will increase for organisations that are open for more than 4 days with staff on a 4 day rota. Peak times like Xmas, easter, summer will also regulate for motorists, commuters and superstores as people are able to accomplish more during the week. The nation will be less stressed, finances and relationships will improve. Covid has seen millions of businesses shut down, the public is needed to boost the economy, an extra day off means more time for leisure, dining out and pleasure buying. Let's return Britain to Great Britain
