A Just Transition for Roots Community Garden
Roots, the community garden on campus, has come under threat due to expanding University accommodation. Now situated by Park Village, the community garden must have a just transition to a suitable location with disability access to continue providing education, rewilding ability and wellbeing space for students and volunteers. In order for this to happen, we have created a proposal asking Sussex University for:
1.Funding for a permanent member of staff to educate and maintain the garden.
2. Allocation of a suitable and accessible space for the continuation of
community gardening at Sussex.
3. Assistance from the Sussex Estates Team to do this, before February 2022, to reduce damage of plants.

Why is this important?
In previous years when Roots has been moved the University has ignored many requests from the society. We need you to show that you support these proposals and demonstrate the vitality of having a community garden on campus, for education, for biodiversity, for mental health.
