Allow hot meals and chocolate snacks in packed lunches

Scawsby Junior Academy have implemented a new school set of rules for packed lunches mid term which seem very unreasonable and contradictory, without any discussion with parents.

As comments have been turned off  have started this petition to show our disapproval.

 Dear Parent/Carer

We have reviewed our policy on packed lunches.
Please see the information below.

Packed Lunches:
We operate a no chocolate, sweets, nuts (including nut products e.g. Nutella), or hot liquids (e.g. soup/pastas) policy. This includes no thermos flasks as we are unable to offer suitable food safety storage in classrooms and so cannot ensure they maintain food safe temperatures or protect children from accidental burns and scalds.

Keeping Food Safe - advice for Parents / Carers:
Ensure packed lunches are kept in a clean air tight container or bag.
Use a freezer gel/ice pack

Many thanks for your support in this matter.

Why is this important?

If you want your child to have a warm lunch then you have no option but to buy school dinners whose options include pizza, chips, muffins, and chocolate crunch... hardly healthy.
