Allow in depth research into cannabis and review laws on the substance

The uk hasn’t had enough research into cannabis to create laws banning the substance. When experts in the field have previously said that it isn’t as bad as governments make out. If the government put some funding into researching cannabis, it may change the outlook on the “drug”. As well as this cannabis plants produce a lot of hemp which could also be sold and exported, bringing more money into the uk.
Whoever has tried cannabis will also know it has a calming effect on the body, whereas legal substances such as alcohol, causes addiction issues, aggression, liver, kidney and heart damage to name a few issues. It is proven in many studies that alcohol is worse for you then cannabis, and will also boost the economy if sold recreationally. Studies have predicted if it was legalised it could bring around £4bn every year. As well as this crime rates would also decrease and tourism would increase, again boosting the economy.

Looking into the history of cannabis in the uk, you will notice it was made illegal as immigrants come to the country during a very racist and discriminated part of the governments past.

In turn the government should at least research it in more detail, then make a more accurate decision of how the law should be in regards to the plant.

Why is this important?

If anyone has tried marijuana, they would know it is much safer then alcohol when grew in the correct setting.
The reason why people may have bad effects is because as it is illegal, you will naturally experience more paranoia. Drug dealers will put chemicals into the plant to gain more money for themselves. If it was legalised both of these issues would cease to exist.
