To: Thérèse Coffey - Environment Minister
Ban Snares for hunting
the Government to implement a full ban on the manufacture, sale and use of snares to trap wild animals such as foxes.
Why is this important?
It is a barbaric and cruel way of hunting foxes, and rabbits, but also affects many wild and domestic mammals wildlife in Britain. The range is huge and includes, Badgers, rabbits, deer (muntjac and young deer), otters, hares, wild cats, stoats and many many more animals.
A petition by MP's has been yadeto the Environment Minister but she has rejected it, on the grounds
"hat land management and gamekeeping associations have developed a new code of practice on the use of snares that should be given “a chance to come into effect before even considering any further legislation”.
Land mangement and gaming association are driven purely by self interests and could not care less of the suffering endured by snaring. I would not wish a death by snaring to my worst enemy,
One must assume we have evolved from medieval practices in the 21st century, so why have snares. We humans should know better by now, then to inflict unnecessary pain and suffering to our fellow creatures, just to serve a few.
