Charities slammed by HSBC bank charges

HSBC are introducing swingeing bank charges from November 2021 on all charities, sports club, youth organisations and other not for profit social groups, and withdrawing their free bank accounts. At a time when charities are struggling with the effects of Covid19, when their usual fundraising events were impossible, this timing could not be worse. If HSBC do this without complaint, other banks will surely follow, so we need to try to reverse this decision made by the HSBC Board. Everyone needs to make as much noise as possible in social media, other media, and by writing to their MP and also the HSBC Board members. Please help all charities and similar groups, usually run by volunteers for the good of their communities, who are struggling to raise funds in these difficult times. Having to pay extra for banking will just add more burdens and make life more difficult for so many.

Why is this important?

There are so many organisations in the UK, usually run by volunteers, doing so much good in their local communities, and they are struggling to raise funds due to Covid19 restrictions. If they also have to pay fees to banks just to manage their funds, this will have a serious impact on their ability to continue their excellent work. These include local sports clubs, youth groups, food banks, Scout & Guide groups, and so many other charities, both large and small. Banks make enormous profits, and they should do their part in helping charities, not dealing them another blow at this difficult time. Please help this campaign.
