Do not scrap BBC Radio 4 Extra
The proposed scrapping of BBC Radio 4 Extra is short-sighted and would save very little money in the larger scheme of BBC cuts. The station, which is entirely pre-recorded, features vintage dramas, documentaries and comedy programmes. There are no news programmes.
Why is this important?
The proposal to scrap a radio station which contains no news or current affairs represents a misjudgement in a world in which entertainment - even escapism - is more necessary than ever.
