Every Youth Deserves a Mentor!

Allocate funding to local grass roots organisation. We propose to implement structured youth mentoring programmes in schools across London. Such as our ‘Lighting Up London’ mentoring  programme.

We pair trained mentors with students in particular those at risk of engaging in anti-social behaviour. We use mentors  drawn from a diverse range of professions and backgrounds, that would provide guidance, support, and act as a role model to help young people navigate challenges.

Why is this important?

Violence affecting our youth, anti-social behaviour, and conflict among young people in London have become pressing societal issues. These challenges not only threaten the safety of our communities but also hinder the potential of our youth.

As adults, it is our collective responsibility to guide young people toward positive futures, ensuring they have the tools to resolve conflicts constructively and avoid criminal paths; exacerbated by issues such as childhood poverty, homelessness and grooming.

Research  shows that mentorship reduces the likelihood of youth involvement in criminal activity, improves academic performance, and fosters a sense of belonging. By creating a positive environment for young people to express themselves, mentoring can break cycles of violence and empower the next generation to thrive. In short… MENTORING WORKS!
